Better racist than gay

Where do you even start with this sort of thing?

TITUSVILLE – [Florida] State Rep. Bob Allen told police he was just playing along when a undercover officer suggested in a public restroom that the legislator give him oral sex and $20 because he was intimidated, according to a taped statement and other documents released Thursday.

“This was a pretty stocky black guy, and there was nothing but other black guys around in the park,” Allen, who is white, told police in a taped statement after his arrest. Allen said he feared he “was about to be a statistic” and would have said anything just to get away.

As a “pretty stocky black guy” myself, I can’t tell you how many times this has happened to me. Sure, it sounds nice, but it’s really a pain when you’re already late for work.

So how messed up is it that in Florida Republican politics, it’s more socially acceptable to say “I’m deathly afraid of negroes” than admit to liking dudes?

Also, a very pathetic ending:

When Allen was being placed in a marked patrol car, he asked whether “it would help” if he was a state legislator, according to a police report. The officer replied, “No.”

And did we mention that he was the co-chair of the McCain Florida campaign at the time? Oh, yes.

I don’t know why I’m defending Florida Republican politics, but it seems like Allen gave the racist explanation to the cops, not to the media or anyone in politics. The problem wasn’t really so much liking dudes at that point as it was paying dudes for sex.

Also, who hasn’t heard of the notorious central Florida stocky black gay gang rapists? Of course he was afraid!

Um, what exactly are you doing on your way to work?
