Holding the phone on constitutional reform

Posted by clubsodaandsalt on May 1, 2003

I was thinking about the issue of constitutional reform last night. While I’ve been a proponent of reform for a while (perhaps at some point I will outline some ideas for changes), I think those of us who are truly concerned about crafting a document of quality should be very wary of disingenuous shenanigans currently being led by the UNC. Think about it, do we really want to waste the political capital required to enact a new constitution on whatever the likes of Manning and Panday are able to produce? Frankly, I wouldn’t want to get within miles of whatever these clowns can come up with. Perhaps it would be best for us to campaign for sensible politicians (where are they?) first, and pursue reform later.
